BLACK SESAME BALLS
This recipe is totally inspired from ingabylinkina and healingnutrition
I gave up processed chocolate for lent.. I’m still furious with myself about it (never again!) and I’m in need of something delicious and this is it and yes (!!) there is cacao in this but thats allowed (ritual_cacao) - but obvs you can leave it out if you want to be a purist…although it’s only 15g!
These balls are just what you need to be reaching for right now, whilst it’s still cold outside and we are still in need or rest and recuperation. It’s so tempting to start rushing back to a busy life after such a dull winter but nature is still telling us to slow down.
These little balls are full of what’s called JING boosting from the black sesame seeds. JING is like our life force or vital energy and we often get low in this after (and during) the winter.
You’ll need -
1 x pot roasted black sesame seeds (I used from yukata but clearspringuk is great too. The pot was 100g and MUST be bought as roasted for the flavour)
15g goji berries
15g ritual cacao I live ritual_cacao
A small piece ginger
1/2 zest of an orange
Pinch salt
3 or 4 cardamom pods
2 tablespoons runny honey
A pinch pose petals (optional)
Pistachios
I blitz the orange, cardamom, rose, cacao up in a nutribullet first and then add in the sesame seeds, honey and goii.
Blitz
Roll into balls and roll into crushed pistachio. Delish and store brilliantly in an airtight hot container.
Delicious as an after meal nibble.
